The Toombul Bowls Club has a rather unique history. In 1928, a green of 4 rinks was laid on the corner of Buckland Rd and Dwyer St Nundah by M.J. Baxter. One of Queensland's earliest private bowls coaches. In 1948, he sold the property, consisting of his residence and green, to the Nundah branch of the Buffalo Lodge for 2500 pounds.

A non affiliated Bowls Club operated within the Buffalo Lodge with the primary objective of gaining a restricted liquor licence for the buffalo lodge's use. Membership of the non-affiliated club was drawn entirely from within the ranks of the buffalo lodge. The non-affiliated bowls club operated until 1953. With interest in buffalo business on the decline and interest in bowls on the increase, this club affiliated with rqba principally to allow members the opportunity to play in metopolian pennants. The affiliated club took the parish name of Toombul as the site was adjacent to the then existing Nundah Bowls Club. It operated from within the presincts of the buffalo club and leased the greens from the Buffalo lodge. The Toombul Bowls Club was formed with Mr A.F. Marshall as its first President and drawing its membership from the Buffalo Lodge.
