Join us for a night to meet your neighbours from around the world, over a delicious shared meal.
MP Amy MacMahon, CR Jonathan Sri, Sen Larissa Waters and MP Michael Berkman are delighted to invite you to our fourth annual community Iftar dinner. We’ll be joined by special guests Greens Senator for NSW Mehreen Faruqi and Greens Councillor for Yarra City (Vic) Anab Mohamud.
Iftar is the name for a daily meal held after sunset, to mark the end of a day of fasting. Ramadan, the ninth month in the Muslim calendar, is a special time for our Muslim communities, who fast from dawn to dusk in South Brisbane, Maiwar, and all around the world.
Ramadan is a time of reflection, where people come together to share culture and hospitality -- which we want to extend to everyone interested to come along, whatever your religion or cultural background.
Come and share a meal with us on the last day of school holidays, Friday 16 April, at BEMAC in Kangaroo Point. This event is open to people of all walks of life. BEMAC is an accessible venue for people who use wheelchairs. Family-friendly.
Any funds raised on the night will be donated to the Romero Centre and the Refugee Clinic at the Indooroopilly Uniting Church.
