Iconic kiwi band The Narcs are taking their unplugged show on a Summer Tour plus dropping a new single 'I Don't Want To Go To Work Today' in time for the holidays! The tour will take in dates in New Zealand's South & North Islands and finishing with a show in Brisbane, Australia. Their set will feature new songs plus stripped down versions of Narcs classics and the many hidden gems from the band’s back catalogue and side projects. The Narcs guitarist/vocalist Andrew (Andy) Dickson is based in Brisbane and will be known to many as the frontman for Aust-Kiwi tribute band Across The Ditch. Andrew was also an original member of Australian mystery group Ghostwriters who had a top 40 hit in the 90's with "Someone's Singing New York New York".

"We played our first unplugged shows last year and everyone loved it. It's more rock'n'roll, feels so raw being up close and personal with the audience. There's lots of singing together, harmonies, laughs, and tears." - Tony Waine

From playing their first gig in Christchurch in 1980, the award-winning band has had a slew of radio hits including 1984 RIANZ Single of the Year/Most Popular Song 'Heart and Soul', 'Diamonds on China' and the 1986 Silver Scroll-winner 'Abandoned By Love'. The Narcs' recording legacy includes two EPs, several singles, three studio albums: 'The Great Divide' (1984), 'The Narcs' (1986), 'Push The Boat Out' (1996), and a compilation 'Best of The Narcs' (2002).

More recently, 2018 saw the band release two singles/videos 'Summerhill Stone' and 'Not Over', appear at Canterbury’s Selwyn Sounds, and tour with Psuedo Echo. 2019 has seen their 'Not Over Summer Tour', headlining Nelson's Marchfest and playing a series of The Narcs Unplugged gigs. In 2020, the band will celebrate their 40th year kicking off with more unplugged shows over summer and sharing the stage with Australia's Icehouse as part of the Platinum Sounds Series.

"Kiwi music icons, The Narcs played to a sold out performance at The Jam Factory in Tauranga. It is a brave move to strip back well known classics to their bare bones, but The Narcs pulled this off effortlessly. It was magical. This is a group with a rich and interesting backstory which is embedded in our Trans-Tasman musical culture. It was a pleasure to see them perform live again after all these years. I had to put down the camera and join in with the audience to sing along to Heart and Soul one of my all-time favourite songs; the highlight of what was a memorable evening. Calls for encore rang out for a long time after the band had departed the stage for the final time." - Music.net.nz 01 Jul 2019, a review by Corinne Rutherford.
