If you play baroque strings or modern violin, viola or cello, we have a three day workshop for you. With fabulous tutors, and other students from around Australia and overseas, you'll explore repertoire from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. You should be at least grade 5 as a minimum standard.
The workshop will start with separate streams for those already playing baroque violin, viola and cello and those who are modern string players, who will have a crash course on baroque strings (sorry, no double basses). There will also be daily concerts.
Modern string players do not need to buy a different instrument. You will need a baroque bow (try Saraband Music) and a couple of gut strings. You can put your instrument straight back to how it was after the workshop. Pitch will be A415.
If you're interested, please go to the website and thoroughly read through the early strings page, self-rating guide and terms and conditions before clicking on the links to take you to Qtix. Please use the links from the website rather than go straight to Qtix. Full registration with class choices will occur after payment is received. The event will be catered by Indie Treats.
This event is run by the Early Music Society of Queensland Inc. If you enjoy music of the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque eras and playing on original instruments, please join EMSQ. There are many benefits, including a discount for financial members to the BEMF workshops.
