“Harrisongs – A Tribute To George” is a new show celebrating the music of the quiet Beatle, George Harrison. The Lennon/McCartney catalogue has been performed in various incarnations worldwide for many years. Now it’s time to showcase the music of the Beatle who may have been somewhat initially overshadowed, but who quietly went about honing his songwriting and performing skills to create his own catalogue of timeless songs.
“Harrisongs” is centred around the majority of repertoire from the “Concert For George” film from 2002, featuring Eric Clapton and a line-up of some of the world’s biggest music stars. It features curated photographic projections appropriate to the era of the songs, which augments the audience experience as George’s musical story unfolds.
“Harrisongs – A Tribute To George” is performed by Sydney’s classic rock specialists The Classic Kings, featuring the lead vocals of one of Australia’s finest singers, Kevin Bennett (The Flood, Moving Pictures) and Sydney’s most in-demand guitarist Rex Goh. The band features an all-star line-up of some of Australia’s most notable musicians, including:
Rex Goh - (Aust Idol Band, Eurogliders, Tommy Emmanuel, everyone) - guitars
John Spence - (Fargone Beauties, The Big Daddys, Goldrush) - guitars/vocals
Tony Mitchell - (Sherbet) - bass/vocals
Chris Alford - (Marcia Hines, Russell Morris, Guy Sebastian) - keyboards/vocals
Lloyd Gyi - (Lionel Ritchie, Tina Arena, The Atlantics) - drums/vocals
