In 1914, when the world was shattered by war on a scale never before experienced, the men from what we now know as the City of Vincent were keen to join the fight. Following on from previous talks about these willing combatants and their contribution, the talks at the Friends of ANZAC Cottage Open Day on Sunday, June 2 at 1:45pm and 2:45pm will reveal where some of these men were living when they answered their call to arms, their family situation and , in some cases, their fate.
Their stories tell how war impacts not only on the fighter, but also their families, friends and even their descendants. On the June 2 Open Day, ANZAC Cottage will be open from 1pm to 4pm with free entry. Afternoon tea is available for a gold coin donation.
